FAQs

  • Komodo is a safe, non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-corrosive, water-soluble, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly compound that serves as a highly effective fire protection agent. It is an eco-friendly “benign by design” compound comprised of food-safe ingredients and earth minerals that work together in a proprietary formula to produce a powerful fire protectant, retardant, and suppressant completely free of PBDEs (Polybrominated Diphenyl Esters) and other restricted or harmful chemicals.

  • Yes, when used as directed, Komodo is completely safe for application on trees, shrubs, plants, grasses, and other vegetation. Komodo was tested to be five times less toxic compared to existing federal guidelines from US Forestry and USDA. It was determined to be essentially non–toxic to fish and mammals as tested by federal government labs.

  • Komodo is effective immediately upon application and is formulated to resist weathering, winds, and rain to maintain optimum exterior fire protection on all treated vegetation and infrastructure throughout the peak fire season. Komodo will resist weather, wind, and up to three (3) inches of rainfall before requiring reapplication.

  • Unlike regular garden sprinklers, a wildfire roof sprinkler system is specifically designed to hydrate the most critical zones and provide precise and comprehensive coverage (not just of your roof, but the eaves and perimeter). New systems use advanced technology such as wildfire tracking systems, remote control applications, and smart water management.

  • Most wildfire defense systems require electricity and a water source to operate. Some systems have a built-in battery backup. Water sources can include municipal water, however a pool, tank, or well water is more reliable in the event of fire. These will require a dedicated pump with a backup power source, such as a generator or home battery. Our team can evaluate your property and requirements based on the system design.

  • After your property assessment, we may return to do an in-depth site evaluation specific to sprinkler and defense system setup. Then we will provide you with a customized system design. Once the design is approved, we will schedule installation. Installation is typically completed in less than 1 week.
